Book Synopsis :

Feyre's survival rests upon her ability to hunt and kill – the forest where she lives is a cold, bleak place in the long winter months. So when she spots a deer in the forest being pursued by a wolf, she cannot resist fighting it for the flesh. But to do so, she must kill the predator and killing something so precious comes at a price ...

Dragged to a magical kingdom for the murder of a faerie, Feyre discovers that her captor, his face obscured by a jewelled mask, is hiding far more than his piercing green eyes would suggest. Feyre's presence at the court is closely guarded, and as she begins to learn why, her feelings for him turn from hostility to passion and the faerie lands become an even more dangerous place. Feyre must fight to break an ancient curse, or she will lose him forever.

Book Review(no spoilers) :

First of all, I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. The reason I did not give it more is because it was kind of slow at the beginning, which is part of the reason it took me longer to finish it.

Nevertheless, I really liked the characters, especially Lucien. I also really liked the relationship between Feyre and Tamlin. As for the story, I really enjoyed it, especially in the last 100 or so.

That's all I have to say without spoiling you. If you haven't read the book I definitely recomment you read it.

[spoilers ahead!]

First things first, I pretty much liked all the characters in this book except Amarantha (obviously) and Nesta at the very beginning! I am so glad and releaved that Amarantha died.

Aside from what happens in the begining which we pretty much all know, we don't really see many (important) things happening until the point where Tamlin sends Feyre back home.That's when the story started getting really interesting and I could not put the book down!

Specifically, when Feyre desides she has to go back to Spring Court to save Tamlin and finds a literal mess. When Alis finds her and tells her the truth about Tamlin and the curse with the masks. I was SHOCKED I did not see it coming at all. I knew that there was something much bigger behind it but I did not imagine that Tamlin had to make a human fall in love with him to break the curse!

And of course it was already too late for Feyre to say ''I love you'' to Tamlin. So she decides she has to go Under the Mountain to save him. That's when things start to go really bad for Feyre, since she has to complete 3 trials and solve a riddle.

The first trial was terrifying, I thought she was going to die. The second one was breathtaking since Feyre never really learnt how to read, but Rhysand helped her so she and Lucien survived. The third trial was by far the worst becauce she had to kill 3 faeries. Once she kills the first two she discovers the third one was Tamlin. But of course Amarantha wouldn't do it since she wanted Tamlin for herself.

So Feyre stabs him.BUT HE HAS A HEART OF STONE, so he does not die. Then obviously Amarantha is furious cause she thought she would fail the trial. Things get worse for Feyre when she solves the riddle. Amarantha kills her.

I already knew that she would not remain dead. I already knew that she was going to become a faerie, which was obvious to me from the beginning anyway. However, the scene was still intense and really sad.

In conclusion, I liked the book but it did not manage to keep me at the end of my seat until the very end. That's the reason why I decided to give it 4 out of 5 stars. I am really looking forward to reading the next book.

I hope you all liked my review!Goodbye!
