Plot:

Olivia Barron (Lucy Hale), a college student, goes on sprink-break vacation to Mexico with her friends Lucas Moreno (Tyler Posey), Markie Cameron (Violett Beane), Brad Chang (Hayden Szeto), Penelope Amari (Sophia Ali), Tyson Curran (Nolan Gerard Funk) and Ronnie (Sam Lerner). There Olivia meets Carter (Landon Liboiron) who takes them to the ruins of an old church where they all play a game of 'Truth or Dare'. Later on they discover that the game was not as harmless as they thought. The game becomes real and each player must tell the truth or do the dare, the game has forced them to, or they die.

Review: 7.5/10

I personally really liked this movie. The plot was genius and the backstory incredible. The dares and truths that were going on were amazing and the scenes breath-taking. What I didn't actually enjoy was the fact that the movie wasn't as intense as I thought it would be. It was more like a mystery movie with supernatural vibes than a horror one. But the actors did a great job and portrayed the characters perfectly, especially Lucy Hale.

[Spoilers Ahead!]

I really liked the fact that even when Carter, which later on we discover that his real name is Sam, 'passed' the game to the group of friends, the game didn't stop for him. He was still a player and he could do nothing about it.

Furthermore, I liked the fact that, to find the truth, they needed to trace Giselle, one of Sam's friends who was also in the game.

I also enjoyed the whole scene where Olivia and Lucas go to find the old nun and the fact that she explained the backstory by writting it down because she cannot speak.

Backstory:

A long time back in the church, there was a pastor who was molesting the nuns. One of the sisters decided to teach him a lesson and summoned a demon named Calax. The pastor gets his demonic spanking, but Calax decides he wants to stay and play more. Then the sisters perform a ritual in which the nun who summoned Calax had to cut her tongue out and seal it in a small urn, to contain the demon. Calax stayed contained because of this urn.

Finally, I liked the fact that Olivia tricked Calax to possess Markie's body, by telling her to deny the dare that she was supposed to do, and get him to play in the game by asking him the truth about how to end the game.

I personally found the ending unexpected. I was shocked that Olivia had to 'pass' the game to numerous people by making a video on her Youtube channel and asking everyone truth or dare.
